Install More Silt Fence With Less Labor
The Burchland Manufacturing XTS Silt Fence Installer is a high-production silt fence plow engineered to install geotextile fabric faster and more consistently than hand digging or conventional trenching.
The XTS knives fabric directly into the soil without folding it. This allows the full width of the fabric to be placed below grade while creating ground tension that helps resist washouts beneath the fence.
Depending on site conditions, the XTS can install thousands of feet of silt fence per hour at selected depths up to 20 inches.
Built for contractors who need to increase production without adding unnecessary labor.
Built for Fast, Controlled Installation
A rear-discharge fabric chute makes the XTS easy to thread and allows the fabric to feed smoothly into the installation path.
The spring-loaded, hardened-steel coulter cuts through roots, debris and difficult soils while knifing the fabric below grade. A forward pivot provides up to 40 degrees of movement to either side of center, helping the installer follow changing terrain and installation paths.
Available mounting configurations support tractors and skid steers, with sliding-offset options available for greater positioning flexibility.

XTS Performance Advantages
High-Production Installation
Installs thousands of feet of geotextile fabric per hour under suitable site conditions.
Up to 20-Inch Depth
Allows the operator to select the installation depth required, up to a maximum of 20 inches.
No-Fold Installation
Knives the fabric into the ground without folding, allowing more of the fabric width to be used.
Tractor or Skid Steer
Available for universal three-point tractor hitches and dedicated skid-steer mounting systems.

Why Knife Installation Matters
Traditional trenching and hand installation require crews to excavate, place, secure and backfill the fabric. The XTS combines much of that work into one continuous installation process.
By placing the fabric below grade without folding it, the XTS helps create tensioned soil contact across the buried portion of the fabric. This can improve installation consistency and help reduce the potential for sediment-laden runoff to wash beneath the silt fence.
The result is a faster installation process with fewer manual steps and more consistent fabric placement.
Final installation must follow the project plans, specifications and applicable agency requirements.
